POLK COUNTY CHAPTER\
The American Red Cross (ARC) is the cornerstone volunteer
agency for the Emergency Preparedness community. They perform
their designed duties and assignments with integrity and
enthusiasm. The coordination and cooperation between the ARC and Polk County has always been exceptional.
As in most jurisdictions, the ARC is responsible for the selection, manning, supplying and maintenance of shelters. This is a tremendous job requiring many trained volunteers (Reservists) and "casual" volunteers. The ARC is always recruiting for volunteers and offer superb training for personnel who wish to become involved.
The ARC is involved in almost every disaster and emergency
that occurs in the United States as well as some that occur
outside US territory. They are international in scope and in
action. They offer emergency and non-emergency mass feeding and
care to disaster victims; Perform cursory damage assessments in
disaster areas; assist with recovery activities; advise
authorities in mitigation issues; and coordinate Critical Stress
de-briefings for response personnel.
The American Red Cross is poised to perform under any conditions, at any time. You can be an American Red Cross volunteer for Polk County. Red Cross needs volunteers for single family fires, volunteers from the medical community nurses; EMT's, mental health counselors and Volunteers instructors to teach CPR, First Aid and AED.
